No Words

This isn't a political post, but it is about the war. And if your against it, or don't support our military, move on, or don't comment.

I'm sure all of you have heard about the drama going on in Afghanistan over some soldiers burning some Korans that were being used by prisoners to send messages back and forth. Now I'm not going to get into whether I think this was right or wrong, but I will say that the retaliation by the Afghan people has been crazy. I'm sure many of you have heard about the two soldiers who were shot and killed b/c of the madness going on. Well this morning we found out that one of the men shot was one of Joe's friends that he was deployed with. My heart breaks for him. They hadn't spoken regularly for a long time. When Joe's unit got back, most of them PCS'd within a few months, including us. I never got to meet the soldier who was killed, but I wish I had. I feel horrible, but I don't even remember his name. I do know that he has a new wife and a new baby. My heart breaks for them as well. Especially the baby who will never know their father. I just hope that he had a chance to meet his son or daughter. We're waiting to hear the details about the funeral. Joe really wants to attend, and hopefully he'll be able to make the trip to Colorado to say goodbye to his friend.

War just sucks. I don't mean this in an anti-war way. I fully support our military and everything they're doing over there. It just sucks that our soldiers have to separated from their families for so long, everything they miss, all the danger they're in. It's just so hard for everybody involved. My dad missed the birth of my brother Drew during the Gulf War, and I can't even begin to imagine how hard that must've been for my mom. I can't even begin to understand what this soldier's wife is going through. To have a new baby, and in the matter of seconds become a single parent. Ugh. If you could all pray for them, or send good vibes their way, or whatever you believe in, I know his family could really use it.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about that. We will keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. And I hope Joe can make it out there for his funeral.
